Bollywood
Bollywood is the term used to name the Indian film industry based in Mumbai (formerly known as Bombay), whose films are made in Hindi and Urdu.
The films, often longer than those shot in Europe or the United States (3 or 4 hours), include numbers danced and sung.
The actors often sing in playback and they are vocal singers who post-synchronize the voices.
Films often describe romances, the endings are often happy. Cinema is one of the main leisure activities in India. We go there as a family so there are no scenes too violent or hot. Films are a real spectacle: they dance, sing, laugh and cry. Its goal is to make dream and to allow to forget a little the precarious conditions of life.
But living conditions have evolved for a certain category of people in India and modernity is also found in films. Indian films are now being exported around the world and are therefore adapted to different audiences. So we can see action movies like Ocean’s eleven or with special effects worthy of Matrix. But until now there are still some scenes sung and danced, even if some films have very few.
The film industry in India is not limited to Bollywood, there are also films that could be described as “art and essay”, and the South also has a highly developed film industry in the Tamil language. Each type of industry has its stars but sometimes some actors or actresses play in films in Hindi and Tamil.
Actors and directors often come from the same family. Actors often run 4 to 5 films a year, sometimes simultaneously!
