Ganesh Ji Aarti In Hindi Font:

LORD Ganesh Ji Aarti :

Jai Ganesh, jai Ganesh, jai Ganesh deva
Mata jaki Parvati, pita Mahadeva.

Ek dant dayavant, char bhuja dhari
Mathe par tilak sohe, muse ki savari
Pan chadhe, phul chadhe, aur chadhe meva
Ladduan ka bhog lage, sant kare seva.

Mata jaki Parvati, pita Mahadeva…

Andhan ko ankh det, kodhin ko kaya
Banjhan ko putra det, nirdhan ko maya
Surya shaam sharan aye, safal kije seva.

Jai Ganesh, jai Ganesh, jai Ganesh deva,
Mata jaki Parvati, Pita Mahadeva…

English Translation of the Ganesh Aarti:

Glory to you, O Lord Ganesha!
Born of Parvati, daughter of the Himalayas, and the great Shiva.

O Lord of compassion, you have a single tusk, four arms,
A vermilion mark of on your forehead, and ride on a mouse.
People offer you betel leaves, blossoms, fruits
And sweets, while saints and seers worship you.

Glory to you, O Lord Ganesha!

Born of Parvati, daughter of the Himalayas, and the great Shiva.

You bestow vision on the blind, chastened body on the leprous,
Children on the sterile, and wealth on the destitute.
We pray to thee day and night, please bestow success upon us.

Glory to you, O Lord Ganesha!
Born of Parvati, daughter of the Himalayas, and the great Shiva.

How to perform Ganesh Aarti

Here is the traditional way of performing Ganesh Aarti. You can practice it daily so that Lord Ganesh bestows his blessings upon you.

Making up the Ganesh idol

Before performing Ganesh Aarti you should dress up the idol properly. You should remove the old flowers and garlands put over the idol. Make the idol clean and tidy. Put Vastra which means a cloth, specially made for idols, over the idol properly. It may be just like a small shawl or a very fine piece of cloth. The one performing Aarti should also wear proper clothes. Men can wear Dhoti-kurta and women can wear Saari or Salwar-kameez.

After offering Vastra to Lord you can light up Incense sticks (Agarbattis), the smell will start building the Aarti (Prayer) atmosphere. After this you should apply Chandan (Sandalwood Paste) or any other Tilak on the forehead of the idol. Put garlands and flowers around the idol and offer Durva (a specific type of green grass offered to Lord Ganesh). Place a plate of Modaks (Lord Ganesha’s favourite sweetmeat) or any other sweet in front of the idol.

Preparing Aarti thali (tray)

Always draw a red Swastika (holy Hindu symbol) in the middle of your thali and place Aarti Deepak (oil lamp) on it. Through out the Aarti not only one Deepak (oil lamp) is used but the other things like, dhoop (camphor ) etc., is also offered to the idol. Use pure ghee in the lamps if possible.

Starting Ganesh Aarti

When everyone gathers, start Aarti saying the typical Ganesh Chaturthi slogan ‘Ganpati Bappa Morya’. Hold Aarti thali in your right hand and bell in your left hand. When everybody starts reciting Aarti you can start moving Aarti thali in front of the idol in clock-wise motion and shake the bell. According to Hindu mythology bell is rung in front of Lord to make him alert regarding devotees prayers.

The Aarti can be started reciting ‘Sukhakarta Dukhaharta’ or ‘Jai Ganesh, Jai Ganesh’. These Aartis can be followed by other Aartis for Lord Shankar, Goddess Durga and so on. You can ask others to play tabla and harmonium while reciting Aartis. When you perform Aarti, everybody should clap while reciting Aarti. Clapping signifies the joy of the devotees while praising the Lord.

Various Aartis

During the entire session of Aarti various other kinds of Aarti Deepaks are offered to the Lord. The Aarti may start by offering a ghee Aarti Deepak followed by Pancharati (Aarti with five lamps), dhoop (camphor or ingredient used to make a pleasant smelling smoke), Maha-Aarti (several lamps). The ingredients like camphor and dhoop included in Aarti helps to get rid of all the evils.

The Aarti session is closed by reciting a short prayer like Ganesh Vandana or any other prayer recited normally by the devotees. After the prayer the Aarti tray is passed on to the entire group so that by moving the cup of their hands over the Aarti flame they receive blessings. At the end of the Aarti, Parsad is distributed to all the devotees after Lord bestows his blessings during the entire Aarti.

Lord Ganesh bestows all the happiness and well being on the devotees if the Aarti is done whole heartedly. He only looks for the selflessness in the devotee. He gives strength to the devotees so that they can face the hardships in life. Performing Ganesh Aarti in a systematic manner gives peace of mind. It also helps to control the five bad qualities of mankind like greed, lust, anger, worldly attachment and ego. This Ganesh Chaturthi perform Aarti with complete dedication and receive all the blessings of Lord Ganesh.
