Hindu devotees worship Lord Hanuman with full faith and devotion to seek his blessings. It is widely accepted that worshipping Lord Hanuman on Tuesdays and Saturdays bestows miraculous results. It is also said that worshipping Lord Hanuman is one of the methods to get rid of ill-effects of Shani. Mangala, the deity of Mars, rules Tuesday. Tuesday is dedicated to Lord Hanuman. Devotees also worship Lord Ganesha and Murugan equally on this day.

अंजनीगर्भ संभूत कपीन्द्र सचिवोत्तम । रामप्रिय नमस्तुभ्यं हनुमन् रक्ष सर्वदा ॥

Anjani Garbha Sambhuta KapIndra Sacivottama |
Rama-Priya Namastubhyam Hanuman Raksha Sarvada ||

Hanuman who was born from the womb of Mother Anjani, and Who is the most excellent Minister of the King of Monkeys (i.e. Sugriva), Who is extremely dear to Sri Rama; I Bow to You, O Hanuman, Please Protect me Always.

People who believe in astrology observe fast to alleviate the harmful effects associated with the planet mangal or mars. Devotees offer red flowers to Lord Hanuman. The underlying belief is that Lord Hanuman will help his devotees to overcome difficulties in life especially those created by the intervention of ‘Mangal graha’ or Mars.

So devotees visit any Hanuman Temple nearby and offer Sindhoor (vermilion powder), til (Sesame), til oil, urad dal (husked black gram) and garlands of Arka flowers and leaves.
