Shiva is supreme, Shiva means the Auspicious One. Shiva is Bholenath meaning the one who is innocent and who gets pleased easily and fulfills wishes of His devotees. Shiva is dissolver and liberator; He dissolves in order to create. Shiva is the dissolver of ignorance and evil. Shiva is known by many names such as Mahadeva, Mahayogi, Rudra, Pashupati, Mahamritunjaya, Nataraja, Bhairava, Vishwanath and many more. Worshipping Lord Shiva purifies one’s soul, helps him attain a long and satisfactory life, removes diseases and ailments, brings in peace, prosperity and spiritual upliftment. The Rudra Gayatri Mantra invokes Shiva for His divine grace for illuminating the intellect.

ॐ तत्पुरुषाय विद्महे महादेवाय धीमहि तन्नो रुद्रः प्रचोदयात्॥
Om Tadpurushaaya Vidvamahe, Mahadevaaya Dheemahi Tanno Rudra Prachodayaat.
Meaning:
Om, Let me meditate on the great Purusha. Oh, greatest God, give me higher intellect, and let God Rudra illuminate my mind.
The Rudra Gayatri Mantra helps in eliminating fear and eases tension.
The Mantra inculcates humility as you realise the existence of the supreme power stronger than you or other forces. This enables you to remain grounded and humble. It helps us in realising the ultimate truth of life, awakens and illuminates our mind. It keeps body, mind and soul healthy.
Best time to chant is early morning hours (Brahma Muhurta), around 4.00AM. According to various sources, it is suggested to chant 108 times daily to get good health and wealth. Make it as a practice to chant once when you apply bhasma or holy ash or vibhuthi or chandan or kunkum.
